FEATURED STYLIST
Heidi Zirbel,
Redken Certified Haircolorist
| What
does it mean to be a Redken Certified Haircolorist and how it affects you as a salon guest? Find out in this Press Release. |
When did you know you wanted to do hair?
I officially made my decision to do hair when I became the receptionist at Rau Salon during my Junior year in high school.
Doing my hair and all of my friends' hair came very natural to me, so I knew that I wanted to make others as fashionable as
my friends and I were. After a week of being a member of the support staff at Rau, I realized how much I loved working with
people and the beauty industry. Soon I was playing on mannequins whenever I got the chance. I then became blessed with an
apprenticeship at Rau and the rest is history.
How long have you been doing color?
I have been doing hair color for 5 amazing years.
How would you describe your approach to doing hair color?
My approach is fearless and full of excitement. I love to do what will look best with the guests features. I am so grounded
with the principles of hair color, that I feel not only comfortable but confident in doing a makeover, correction, a little
something out of their norm or just a touch-up. I really focus on the consultation to make sure that we fix any complications
and to see if we need to add any new flavor to their hair.
What inspires your creativity?
To be honest, seeing and listening to the guest in my chair gets my creativity the biggest rush. I watch and read material
from Redken that covers everything from New York Fashion Week to a simple color technique. I love to travel as well as read
fashion magazines to see what is the new up and coming style that could be just on the horizon in the style world.
What advice would you give someone considering coloring their hair for the first time?
My advice would be, don't be nervous. Hair color is the best accessory and is a beautiful thing to add to your everyday life.
Something as simple as a new hair color can help give someone a new outlook on life. If you have a vision, bring in a picture
and don't be afraid to ask questions. You need to also trust your stylist's suggestions.
Describe your personal style.
My personal style is both classic and eclectic. I love the classic look but am always willing to add a little bit of funk
to give it a new spin!
